He started his career with National Textiles (a Government of India Undertaking) as Deputy Director/Divisional Manager during 1972-78 and subsequently worked with Reliance Industries as Marketing Manager-Textile division during 1979-85, Executive President-Textile division, Grasim Industries and Executive Director Bombay Dyeing during 2006-08.
